Harlow's House System
Mandi Douglas

We just wanted to share with you a new system we have launched this year at Harlow!

Hello Parents!

We just wanted to share with you a new system we have launched this year at Harlow! Our sense of community is such an important part of our students' learning environment, so we have implemented the House System! The House System allows us to create a strong sense of community between all students and staff members by getting to know others we might not see on a daily basis. It instills strong school spirit and pride, and it’s where we learn and practice the traits that we strive to instill in each of our youngest Coyotes. Participation in the House System allows students to set goals together, compete together, motivate and encourage one another, and ultimately form a family-like bond with their other House members across grade levels.

What does this mean for your child? Your child will be assigned one of six houses, each with a different color and focused character trait. Each house will be collectively earning points for good behavior and attendance, competing with the other houses for the most points. Your child will have the opportunity to be selected as our “House Hero” if they are modeling the highlighted character trait for that month. If selected, they will be celebrated at our House party on the last Thursday of the month.

What does that mean for parents? You get to help us celebrate your child if they’re selected for their class as House Hero! We would also love for you as parents to continue talking about our character traits at home so students can see and understand what the following character traits mean and look like Honesty, Ambition, Responsibility, Leadership, Optimism, and Wonder. (H,A,R,L,O,W)

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can clarify, thank you for your continued support!
